Meroie appears in the first One Piece television special, set at Ocean's Navel in the East Blue. She serves as guardian to a young boy named Hamu and crosses paths with Luffy and Zoro during their fight against the pirate Joke.
Meroie keeps her dark indigo hair cropped short and looks out through navy blue eyes. Her outfit pairs a shaggy, fur-trimmed top in brown and beige with a pair of vivid green trousers.
A nurturing soul, Meroie stepped in to raise Hamu after his mother died defending their village. She is easily moved by kindness in others, so much so that a small act of decency can leave her flushing red.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

When I first decided to commit to watching One Piece seriously, I knew I was embarking on one of anime's longest and most beloved series. With over 100...
Ten years before the special, Meroie took Hamu under her wing once Captain Joke's assault claimed the life of the boy's mother. She was already caring for him when she encountered Monkey D. Luffy and Roronoa Zoro. Wary at first because the two were pirates, she eventually warmed to them enough to guide Luffy toward the Mountain of God, declaring that she did not care who brought Joke down, however reckless the attempt might be. When Zoro shielded her by pushing her clear of a giant crustacean monster, his kindness left her smitten and blushing as she helped him after the beast fell, though it was actually Sanji who landed the finishing kick. She blushed again when Sanji invited her to dinner, to Zoro's irritation. After Joke was defeated and the Straw Hats said their farewells, Hamu asked whether she had gotten their names, and she brushed it off as unimportant since they were only a band of pirates.
