Morishita Yukie

Yukie is a teenage girl who wears her long black hair in braids, typically dressed in a dark green school uniform set off by a blue collar and skirt. Around the Pirate Club she is nearly always in costume, first as the Going Merry and later as the Thousand Sunny. Her Merry getup hinged on a mask copying the ship's figurehead, originally joined by a clunky wooden waist-piece with a toy cannon up front that she kept ditching for being unwieldy. Her Sunny outfit pares things down to a mask of that ship's lion figurehead.

Off on her own Yukie is timid, so bashful that she will not face Yamamoto Luffy without a costume on. Hidden inside one, though, she turns boldly forward in pursuing his affection, forever hovering near him and angling for a hug. Large animals such as reindeer leave her uneasy.

Yukie attended the same preschool as Luffy in her childhood. Watching the Pirate Club hunt for a clubroom and guessing that Luffy must be a One Piece fan, she dressed as the Going Merry to approach them, hoping for a hug just like the one Monkey D. Luffy gives the real ship, and offered them a share of the Tea Ceremony Club's room. During the school's culture festival she played a zombie in her class's haunted house, but threw her disguise back on rather than let Luffy see her face, spinning a tale that she had risen as a vengeful Merry. After the club laid the spirit to rest, she asked Luffy for a parting hug, was refused, and bolted. Once they had moved on, she reappeared in a Thousand Sunny costume and announced herself as their new ship.
