Motobaro is the bison kept by Duval as both a mount and an aquatic transport. Outfitted with a motorcycle-style saddle, the beast charges with horns powerful enough to gouge holes through village dams.
A hulking bison, Motobaro carries an oversized head and body atop comparatively small legs, his horns staying short. Duval rigs him with a custom saddle holding side pouches for harpoon cartridges and mounts handlebars like the ones on his men's flying fish, so that riding the animal resembles steering a giant motorcycle. For crossing water, the bison straps on a breathing rig styled after the front of a truck, complete with twin exhaust pipes. In the anime, Franky bolted on an engine to push the creature's pace even higher.
Brute force earns Motobaro his reputation as a savage beast. His horns, dubbed the Heart-smashing Horns, can rip openings into dams and were the very thing that let Duval slip away from the Marines. Such is his strength that he can burst free from a cage and flatten a foe even when the horns themselves fall short of reaching the target. Beyond land, he is capable of swimming across the open sea with his special apparatus.
When set against Monkey D. Luffy, the bison balked after Luffy tried to talk him out of the fight, then unintentionally let loose his Haki. Terrified, Motobaro bolted, made it only a short way, and collapsed unconscious with foam at his mouth.
Later he joined the riders in thanking Sanji for repairing Duval's face. Carrying both Duval and Sanji, he set out for Grove 1, but his sluggish top speed compared to the flying-fish riders infuriated Sanji, especially once Duval failed to beat his own henchmen to the Human Auctioning House despite the straightest route and earlier boasting. When the group left Grove 1, Franky fashioned a device to speed the bison up and help its passengers flee the pursuing Marines.
