An early SBS rendering showed him as a round-headed fellow with a seven inked onto his left cheek. A fuller official sketch by Eiichiro Oda recast him as a towering, dark-skinned man whose short hair rises into a spiky Mohawk. He goes about in a long dark coat with a frilled collar and a pair of gloves, a sheathed blade hanging from his belt.

Almost nothing survives about how he carried himself. What little can be inferred comes from his decision to try to kill Zoro over a refused recruitment offer, which at least marks him as devoted to the cause he served.

He fought as a swordsman armed with an ordinary cutlass. Whatever skill he had fell short of Zoro's, since that swordsman cut him down. Baroque Works dispatched him to bring in Zoro, who had built a reputation as the Pirate Hunter across the East Blue. Zoro countered that he would sign on only if the group made him its leader, and when Mr. 7 resorted to force over the rejection, the superior blade ended him. A new agent then inherited the codename. The live-action adaptation stages the encounter on Sixis, where Zoro bisects him and carries the body to Shells Town to collect the bounty, also granting him acrobatic swordfighting the manga never depicted.
