Namur is a shark fish-man who once led the eighth division of the Whitebeard Pirates. The only non-human among Whitebeard's commanders, he fought at Marineford to keep Ace from the executioner's block.
Built short and rounded, Namur carries the unmistakable traits of a shark fish-man. Pointed teeth from his lower jaw jut past his lips, three to a side, and three pairs of gills line his neck. His hair stands up in upward spikes, a look that recalls Gecko Moria, and the numeral eight is inked at the left of his throat to mark the division he commands. For clothing he favors a white tee with sky-blue sleeves, the orange Criminal star printed across the chest. Because his lower half never appears in the manga, the anime supplies grey belted trousers, bare feet, and a grey fin rising from his back.
Devotion to Whitebeard and his crew defines Namur. He proved that loyalty by sailing into the Marineford war and putting his own life on the line in the attempt to pull Ace free from execution.

Leading the eighth division placed Namur in command of its lower ranks. His fish-man heritage already grants roughly tenfold the strength of an ordinary person on land, doubled again in water, and his commander status implies he surpasses even that baseline. The anime fleshes out his fighting more than the manga does, depicting him as a capable martial artist, though whether he practices Fish-Man Karate is never confirmed. His jaws are formidable in the way Arlong's are, strong enough to chew straight through an iron battle axe.
