Pekkori

A middle-aged man with a roughly rectangular face and a shaved beard, Pekkori keeps his sunglasses on at all hours, indoors and even in the rain. His head is crowned by a black hat bearing a preserved goat, and over his hood sits a second hat fashioned in the shape of a ram. He wears a cultist-style robe like those of his followers, cinches it with a thin red sash knotted at the front, and around his neck hangs a string of pale green beads strung with what appear to be animal fangs.

Pekkori is deeply devoted to his villagers, prepared to go to any length to protect them, even calling on Satan himself for aid. That loyalty has a darker edge, however. Once the captured longarm raiders were defeated, he weighed putting them on display as a paid spectacle, a money-making scheme Brook had to talk him out of.

For a long stretch, Harahettania had suffered raids by longarm bandits under Sancrin, so its people turned to black magic in hopes of summoning Satan for revenge. By chance, Brook crashed into the center of their magic circle during one such rite, leading Pekkori to assume the Devil had answered the call. When the longarms later abducted a young woman, he and the villagers did nothing, and he tried to coax Brook into confronting the raiders while the musician composed.

The song Brook produced finally lit a fire in the villagers, who fought back and captured the bandits for the first time. Grateful, Pekkori thanked Brook, though he then floated the idea of exhibiting the longarms as a circus act for profit before Brook persuaded him to release them. The freed bandits broke their word and seized Brook instead, prompting Pekkori and his people to attempt summoning yet another demon to recover him. As mayor he wields authority over the kingdom's inhabitants and was seen fighting the raiders with a spear alongside the other cultists.
