Pound is the towering 25th former husband of the pirate empress Big Mom and the father of his two daughters, Charlotte Chiffon and Lola. Cast aside once the girls were born, this gentle giant becomes an unlikely ally of the Straw Hats on Whole Cake Island while aching to reunite with the children he never raised.
Pound is enormous, his head alone rising twice as tall as Carrot and far wider, and he dwarfs even the 492-centimeter Oven. Curiously, his head matches the rest of his body in size while his legs are absurdly stunted, so that he looks like a full giant whenever nothing but his head shows. Light pink hair falls in waves gathered into a topknot, framing a pear-shaped face with a thin drooping mustache, a patchy beard, tiny eyes, and an oversized nose and mouth. He dresses in a frilly pale blue suit and dark trousers left ragged from his time buried underground, and wears a single shoe on his right foot. Decades earlier he kept a touch of stubble and wore a crown, the accessory Big Mom allows her husbands to keep until she discards them.
Strange habits define him, from burying himself in the dirt simply because he enjoys it to forever pining for apple juice. He keeps an even, detached manner around others, chatting normally no matter the chaos nearby and preferring to steer clear of other people's quarrels, though he will lend his conviction to those he grows fond of. Blunt to a fault, he tends to grate on those around him by voicing exactly what is on his mind.
Underneath, he is kind and brave: he struck at Brûlée to rescue Nami and threw himself at Oven to shield Chiffon. Big Mom herself called him stubborn beyond reason for trying again and again to see his daughters however often she kicked him out, and that same persistence finally convinced Chiffon and Lola of who he was. Given even the chance to lay eyes on Chiffon, he met the prospect of death wearing a smile, weeping for joy upon seeing his grandson and his daughter safe and content.
Big Mom abducted Pound to serve as her 25th husband, and roughly 26 years before the present the pair had twin daughters, Chiffon and Lola, after which she discarded him. He later buried himself up to the neck in the Seducing Woods of Whole Cake Island, left undisturbed because no one cared enough to bother him. There he crossed paths with Nami, Chopper, and Carrot, and afterward with Luffy, eventually trading what he knew about Big Mom for a promise of apple juice. When Cracker hauled him up to execute him for leaking secrets, Luffy blocked the blow and freed him, and Pound repaid the kindness by punching Brûlée in order to shield Nami, an act that branded him an enemy of the entire Charlotte Family.
Driven by love for the daughters he had never raised, he later spotted an adult Chiffon from a great distance and trailed her to Cacao Island, where Oven beat him for trying to reach her. He caught his first-ever look at his grandson Capone Pez and swung a club at Oven to halt an attack on Chiffon's group. Surviving the ordeal, Pound drifted to Green Bit and was carried to Dressrosa, where he reunited with both daughters; though they doubted his claim at first, his dogged insistence eventually won them over and the family embraced.
Pound has no real combat skill, yet his sheer bulk intimidates others and makes him remarkably durable, enough to shrug off Randolph's spear through his head with only mild pain. His eyesight is sharp enough to pick out his kin from miles away.
