Sealed

Old age sits heavily on Sealed, who stands tall under a high diamond-patterned hat trimmed with a single feather and topped by a small round ornament. His hair and beard are both white and bristling, the chin growth tapering into an arrow shape beneath his lip, framed by gaunt cheekbones and creased skin around the mouth. Round tinted spectacles hide his eyes. A zippered pale cloak drapes his frame, paired with above-the-knee socks and loafers, while a string of heavy beads holding an Orb and a bell hangs at his neck. He is most often shown seated in a two-wheeled chair, gripping a golden polearm.

Gentle and giving, Sealed wanted nothing more than safety and contentment for Popora and the islanders he watched over. His forgiveness ran deep: even after the residents seized his Orb and demanded he weaponize Popora, he held no lasting resentment toward them. Wisdom guided his choices, and he walked away from the Great Tree once he understood the foolishness of forging a so-called instrument of justice. He prized his promises above all, and breaking his vow to Popora left him buried in shame. That same conviction made him brave enough to trade his own life to imprison the monster that his island's hatred had unleashed.

Sealed belonged to a society lost to time, more than a thousand years before the present, where he was among those who raised the Great Tree using the discovered Orbs. Disillusioned by the project, he stole an Orb to study it for later generations and sailed to a fresh island in Paradise, becoming a wanted man back home. Settling as the island's leader, he conjured endless harvests with the artifact and shaped a creature he named Popora, raising it as a son. When the islanders ignored his warnings and animated their guardian statue out of fear, the resulting Evil Guardian slaughtered everyone but Sealed and Popora.

Holding himself responsible, Sealed confronted the rampaging entity and gave his life to seal it, charging a grieving Popora with guarding the seal until a rescuer arrived. His spirit lay bound within the Orb for a millennium. Once Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates destroyed the Evil Guardian, his soul finally surfaced to thank Popora and Luffy, conjured companions so Popora would not be alone, and granted his creation the freedom to live for itself before ascending.
