Skid

Skid is an aged man whose hair and beard have gone gray. He favors a red knit cap with a matching vest, worn over a blue button up shirt.

As an elder, Skid keeps a watchful, protective eye on his villagers, above all the headstrong Medaka, though his authority is never quite enough to keep her from rushing into danger. He is also strikingly generous to strangers, parting with the village's last food to thank Luffy and Zoro for rescuing his granddaughter.

When the Ganzack Pirates overran the island, Skid could do nothing to stop them from enslaving his home, the able bodied men such as Herring driven to labor inside the looming Devil's Tower while elders and children were held as hostages. For weeks he endured the occupation and the dwindling food stores, unable to keep Medaka from raiding the pirates, a recklessness that ended with her being saved by the starving castaway Luffy.

Grateful, Medaka brought Luffy and Zoro to Skid's home, where the old man shared his remaining food and warned them of Ganzack's fearsome power. The warnings went ignored, and Medaka soon recruited the pair against Ganzack with the promise of more to eat. Too frail to hold the trio back, Skid kept to the edges of the fighting that followed, and once Ganzack was finally beaten he joined the villagers in seeing the Straw Hats off.
