Ukkari

Short in stature, Ukkari turns out in the regulation Marine kit, which amounts to a sleeveless white top paired with the standard cap. The live action adaptation ages him up considerably, presenting a more grown, seasoned version of the recruit.

Like the rest of the garrison stationed at Shells Town, Ukkari lived under the shadow of Captain Morgan, a man he both dreaded and despised. The tyrant's downfall came as a relief to him, and he joined his fellow Marines in open celebration once Luffy toppled the captain.

While hoisting a statue of Morgan into place, Ukkari left a small scratch on it. Morgan resolved to execute him over the blemish, but the punishment never landed because Luffy crashed onto the roof and smashed the monument to pieces. When Morgan was finally beaten, Ukkari cheered with the others. The live action series reworks his part substantially: there Nami flirts with him at Ririka's bar before knocking him out to steal his uniform, he later helps confront her with his partner Sada, gets crucified by Morgan as punishment, and in the second season is forced by Miss All Sunday to shoot his own superior. His name comes from the Japanese word for careless, which Viz translator Stephen Paul rendered as Carelesso.
