Appearance

Roughly tripling a normal person in height, Shot is outsized only by Sanjuan Wolf among the crew's central figures. His silhouette is stocky and severely top-heavy, the thick arms reaching down to his knees while his legs stay short and slender by comparison. A reddish tint colors his skin, his neck spreads exceptionally wide, and the centerpiece of his face is a massive bulbous nose drooping past his mouth, its bridge curiously rooted above the line of his eyes. A drunken smile fixes itself on his features with the tongue hanging loose, golden hoops pierce both sides of his neck, and a black jester's cap with sagging, pompom-tipped cones sits over the waved black hair that streams down his back.

Faithful to his nickname, he is constantly drinking from a hefty yellowish gourd lashed across his back and stamped with the kanji for alcohol. Through most of his appearances he kept to the plain black-and-white striped uniform issued at Impel Down. His design shifted partway into the Egghead Arc, when he took on dark lipstick, a small star inked on the left of his forehead, a darkened nose, and a getup combining a black feathered coat with diamond-patterned overalls.

Personality

His epithet captures him well: a relaxed, faintly dim-witted drunk who has never once been shown sober and openly dreads the idea of sobering up. On one occasion he proposed raiding some town for no reason beyond having emptied his supply of drink. That clownish front, however, hides genuine savagery. The atrocities behind his imprisonment were so extreme that not even the worst inmates housed on the prison's deepest level matched them, and the World Government scrubbed all record of him from history as a result. The moment his crew reached Marineford he requested leave to kill every soul in sight, a clear mark of his bloodlust. He is also a lecher, urging Catarina Devon to spare Boa Hancock so they might amuse themselves with her, and her allure left even him susceptible. His distinctive laugh runs "Toputoputopu."

History

Counted among the deadliest criminals of his day, Shot was eventually seized by the World Government and condemned to life on the prison's sixth and lowest tier, his name struck from every record thereafter. When Teach's crew stormed that prison, he carried out an order to fight his cellmates to the death, and emerging the victor bought him both his release and a spot in the ranks. He turned up with the Blackbeard Pirates at Marineford to witness Whitebeard's end, personally hosing the dying emperor with gunfire, then absorbed a blast from Sengoku's Buddha form before departing once Shanks closed out the conflict.

Across the timeskip he climbed to Titanic Captain over the eighth ship. He featured in the Payback War against Whitebeard's survivors, was flash-frozen when the crew ran into Kuzan, who later signed on, and helped establish Hachinosu as their stronghold. He went with Teach to Amazon Lily to claim Hancock's fruit, suffering petrification until Silvers Rayleigh undid it. During the Egghead Arc he turned his powers on Garp, spitting fire at the vice admiral, and together with his fellow Titanic Captains brought the old hero down once SWORD slipped away with Koby.
