Finding Nami's old pen stained with her blood, Luffy grasps the cruelty of the cartography she was forced to perform. After Arlong gloats about exploiting her talent, Luffy snaps the saw-blade weapon with his bare hands and smashes the sea charts and furnishings that filled the chamber. The wreckage tossed from the building is spotted by the crowd outside and by Nami herself, who quietly thanks him for the act.

Arlong bites into Luffy's shoulder, but Luffy breaks the fish-man's nose and counters a final lunge by stomping him down through several floors with Gomu Gomu no Ono, collapsing the structure entirely. Emerging from the rubble, Luffy declares Nami a member of his crew, and she accepts. The corrupt officer Nezumi tries to seize Arlong's hoard, prompting the furious crew to demand the wealth be returned to the villagers. Back in Cocoyasi, Genzo apologizes to Nami on the town's behalf, while Nezumi flees to request a bounty be placed on Luffy.

This entry belongs to the Arlong Park Arc and marks Nami's formal induction as the Straw Hats' navigator. For the English adaptation, 4Kids merged portions of three separate Japanese episodes, including this one, into a single edited installment. A remastered version of the episode carried noticeably different audience ratings from the original broadcast.
