Bounty! Straw Hat Luffy Becomes Known to the World!

Out on the open water, a News Coo drops a newspaper onto the deck, and inside is a wanted poster carrying Luffy's face. The report explains that his streak of victories against the region's most dreaded pirates has convinced the Marines to mark him a real danger, pinning thirty million berries to his name, a figure larger than any the region has produced. The milestone spreads outward at once, reaching the allies he has gathered and the rivals he has made along the road.

One of those who learns of it is Fullbody, knocked down in rank after his fight at the Baratie, who eyes the bounty as a path back to his old standing. Catching sight of the Going Merry slipping past, he commands an assault, yet it falls apart and he bolts the moment Sanji steps into view. Elsewhere, Mihawk brings the report to Shanks and his crew, who break into celebration at the news. The crew then fixes its course, electing to call at Loguetown before they brave Reverse Mountain.

Loguetown earned its nickname as the city where everything began and ended, having been both the cradle and the gallows of Gold Roger. As the Going Merry makes for it, Buggy and Alvida set out in pursuit. This launches the Loguetown Arc and debuts Brannew, John Giant, and Gyoru. The episode also features Fullbody's wall of wanted posters, a blend of canonical, quasi-canonical, and non-canonical bounties drawn from assorted Oda one-shots and films. A continuity slip shows Zoro halving a cannonball before he canonically learns to cut steel.
