Key Events

Ace and Sabo bind Luffy to a tree and resolve to kill him, though neither has ever taken a life and they have no idea how to begin. Overhearing their grim debate, Luffy starts shrieking, which gives away their position to Porchemy, who is hunting down whoever robbed his crew. The three try to hide in the brush, but Luffy is seized at once. Pressed to reveal where the stolen money and valuables are, he attempts a clumsy lie. Porchemy hauls him back to the hideout intending to beat the truth out of him, while Ace and Sabo relocate their treasure, certain Luffy will crack. Yet Luffy keeps denying any knowledge as the abuse continues, and Sabo eventually realizes the boy will never talk, prompting him and Ace to race off to save him.

Notes

The episode adapts parts of Chapters 583 and 584, and debuts Sabo, Porchemy, and Bluejam. Luffy's exploration of Gray Terminal was lengthened, with added shots of its inhabitants scavenging through the garbage, and a new sequence shows Ace robbing Bluejam's men. In one altered beat, when a subordinate pleaded for Porchemy to spare Luffy, the manga had Porchemy punch him with his spiked gloves, whereas the anime has Porchemy kick the man instead.
