The Crew is Defeated!? Hody Controls the Ryugu Palace

Zoro lands his cut on Hody and asks Neptune for aid in slipping out of Ryugu Palace. Hody, however, downs an Energy Steroid, shrugs off the wound, and pins down both the king and the Straw Hats. Even so, the two Ministers and the palace guards manage to break free and flee the occupied castle.

Luffy, Shirahoshi, Chopper, and Sanji arrive at the Sea Forest, where the Thousand Sunny and Franky await them. Jinbe and Luffy meet again after a two-year gap, but Jinbe is stunned to find Shirahoshi outside her tower and Hatchan badly hurt. Nami and Camie soon turn up as well, bringing grim word of everything that unfolded at the palace. Jinbe then offers an apology to the crew for having once let Arlong run wild across the East Blue.

The anime layers in extra material: Zoro trades blows with some of Hody's men before surfacing for air, and Neptune tosses a Bubbly Coral to Usopp, who relays it to Zoro only for the catch to be fumbled. An Ammo Knight warning Fukaboshi about Waterwheel Town is cut down by a New Fish-Man Pirate, the princes are placed at Gyoverly Hills before Ikaros strikes, and a younger Shirahoshi appears ahead of the flashbacks. This installment is the first to use Brook's post-timeskip eyecatcher, and Neptune's Merman Combat and Ultramarine make their technical debut.
