Spirit of the Fakes! Heart of the Rebel Army, Camus!

Word reaches Vivi of a small town protected by counterfeit Rebel Army bodyguards who have kept the peace. She asks Luffy and the crew to gauge whether the fakes deserve to stay. When the pretenders hold firm under pressure, the Straw Hats withdraw and grant them their place.

After bidding the sand pirates farewell, the crew sets out for Ido, with Zoro wondering aloud about Ace, whom Luffy expects to turn up unannounced. In Ido, Camus's rebels dine with the mayor until news of approaching sand pirates sends the timid Camus fleeing, just as Ace, traveling with his lizard, helps himself to their food and thrashes the men who call him a thief. A terrified Camus begs Ace for protection, which he grants on a condition. Riding out, Ace meets Luffy's crew, mistaken for the very sand pirates, and explains the so-called rebels are merely thugs. Vivi defends villagers willing to pose as protectors and proposes testing their mettle. Confronted by Luffy's bounty and surrounded by the menacing Straw Hats, Camus and his men cast off their cowardice and stand firm, earning Vivi's approval and the right to keep guarding the town.

The non-canon figures of this episode, including Camus's group and the Barbar Pirates, briefly reappear in Episode 130, an otherwise largely canon installment. The episode debuts the character Camus and the location Ido.
