Overview

Holed up on Mt. Colubo in East Blue, the Dadan Family is a gang of mountain bandits answering to Curly Dadan. Garp once remarked that their crimes outnumber the stars, underscoring their long rap sheet. Beyond Dadan herself, the named members are Dogra and Magra, though others fill out the group. Despite their rough trade, they keep cordial ties with Makino and Woop Slap of Foosha Village, who occasionally send over ale and food.

Role

The bandits' most consequential job was an unwilling one. Vice Admiral Garp blackmailed Dadan into raising his adopted grandson Ace and later his biological grandson Luffy, trading their care for the Marines looking the other way on the gang's offenses. The boys were meant to hunt, clean, and sometimes steal for the group, chores they mostly dodged, and they were soon joined by the runaway noble child Sabo. All three eventually left to chase piracy.

Notable Members

Curly Dadan heads the family, with Dogra and Magra as her best-known underlings. Their bond with the boys ran deep: when Bluejam left Ace and Luffy to burn in the Gray Terminal, the bandits charged in to save them, and Dadan helped beat Bluejam down. After Sabo was gunned down by the World Noble Jalmack, the family trained alongside the surviving brothers until they set sail at seventeen. Ace's execution at Marineford sent a grieving Dadan to confront Garp, thrashing him for putting duty over family before shouting her support for Luffy. The clan later celebrated Luffy's return and Sabo's survival, and mourned again over distressing news from Egghead.
