Overview

This is a gigantic vessel with a full city built atop it, promoted as the grandest entertainment hub anywhere. The World Government recognizes it as an independent state thanks to its ruler's immense fortune and treats it as a demilitarized zone, though it still owes a Heavenly Tribute to keep that standing. Locals call it the moving country of dreams. Stretching ten kilometers, much of it is fashioned from gold, with a cruise-ship style bow, a roofless inner city, and a stern shaped like a roulette wheel and card table. Two enormous cannon-armed sea turtles tow it across the New World.

Role

Entry can be earned through Gild Tesoro's Vivre Card, treated as a personal invitation sealed inside an enveloped marked with the city's emblem. One such invite passed from Tanaka to Mad Treasure and later fell into Nami's hands, steering the Straw Hats toward the casino. The staff form a whole hierarchy: white-suited musicians, red-clad casino workers, dancers in top hats, and bunny-suited croupiers. Security falls to chief Tanaka, whose men wear black suits and wield firearms, swords, axes, and explosives while watching the city through a sprawling Visual Den Den Mushi network. The ship's Jolly Roger is a slim skull in a purple top hat over crossbones, backed by the light-bulb initials GT.

Notable Members

Gild Tesoro raised the city four years before the series began once his illegal ventures paid off, and it came to hold a fifth of all the world's circulating money, luring gamblers who lost everything and were forced into debt labor. In Film: Gold, the Straw Hats arrived during a Tesoro and Carina concert, fended off the Long Long Pirates, then lost their fortune to Tesoro himself after Baccarat drained their luck. Tesoro seized Zoro and demanded repayment, broadcasting the threatened execution. Working with Carina as a double agent, the crew sprayed water through the gold fountains to wash away the dust that let Tesoro control the populace, freeing everyone. Residents and prisoners revolted, a Marine fleet attacked, and Luffy finally beat Tesoro, after which Carina used a fake explosion ruse to sail off with full command of the ship.
