Overview

The Worst Generation gathers twelve infamous pirates who rose to prominence on the eve of the Summit War of Marineford. Eleven of them are the Supernovas, rookie captains and crewmates assembled at the Sabaody Archipelago whose bounties all cleared a hundred million Berry; the twelfth is Marshall D. Teach, then a Warlord and soon an Emperor. Their brazen defiance of the World Government earned them a reputation as the "problem children" steering the new age of piracy.

The eleven Supernovas hailed from nine crews and every sea, from the four Blues to the Grand Line and even the sky. With the exception of the Straw Hats and Heart Pirates, they all pushed into the New World almost at once, while Teach was already established there. Though regarded as roughly equal threats, they hold sharply different philosophies of piracy.

Role

No group has shaken the world's balance of power more. Monkey D. Luffy and Trafalgar Law together accounted for the defeat of three Warlords, and members have usurped the seats of multiple Emperors: Luffy took Kaidou's place, Teach took Whitebeard's, and Law and Eustass Kid brought down Big Mom. Luffy alone invaded and escaped all three of the government's central strongholds, fought through Marineford, and later, with Jewelry Bonney, helped defeat an oversized Buster Call and an Elder during the Egghead Incident.

Their relationships shift with circumstance, ranging from idle conversation to open combat, yet a shared respect persists even among rivals. Several have bound themselves into pirate alliances: Luffy and Law joined forces against Doflamingo and Kaidou, while Kid, Scratchmen Apoo, and Basil Hawkins formed a pact aimed at Shanks that collapsed through Apoo's treachery. Shakuyaku once predicted that one of them could inspire an entire new generation, a forecast Luffy fulfilled with Bartolomeo, and Morgans is convinced one will become the next Pirate King.

Of the twelve, only Roronoa Zoro and Killer are not captains, and Zoro alone wields no Devil Fruit, since Killer's faulty SMILE robbed him of swimming and negative expression rather than granting power. Across the Dressrosa, Wano, and Egghead conflicts the group repeatedly collided with Emperors, Admirals, and the Five Elders, cementing the notoriety that gave them their collective name.

Notable Members

Monkey D. Luffy of the Straw Hats and Marshall D. Teach of the Blackbeard Pirates carry the heaviest bounties, both having claimed Emperor status. Trafalgar Law and Eustass Kid round out the quartet of three-billion-Berry captains, with Law a former Warlord and Kid a relentless rival. Roronoa Zoro, the lone non-captain to gain major fame, and Killer fight alongside their respective crews, while Capone Bege, Jewelry Bonney, Basil Hawkins, X Drake, Scratchmen Apoo, and the sky-born Urouge complete the roster.

Several carry notable backgrounds: Bege was once boss of a western mafia family, Drake a former Marine Rear Admiral secretly captaining the unit SWORD, and Apoo a hidden informant for the Beasts Pirates. Bonney, Luffy, and Drake are each children of other wanted criminals, and Urouge stands as the eldest member while Bonney, by ordinary reckoning, is the youngest.
