Senriku

Item

Senriku is the trademark long gun carried by Van Augur of the Blackbeard Pirates. Built in an antique musket style, it grants its marksman the ability to strike targets at distances far beyond what an ordinary rifle could ever reach.

Overview

Senriku takes the form of a musket-styled long arm whose appearance belies its outlandish performance. A wooden forestock runs about halfway beneath a lengthy barrel of yellow-brown metal that opens at the end into a flared, funnel-shaped muzzle reminiscent of a blunderbuss, a shape that somehow leaves its precision intact. Two lensed crosshair scopes sit along the barrel, one near the forend and one just behind the muzzle.

The gold-plated stock follows a straight-grip layout with no protruding handle, banded in maroon and capped at the curved butt with a golden plate. Its most striking feature is an outsized golden flintlock assembly carrying a massive hammer for the flint and, oddly, a four-spoked wheel below the frizzen.

Function

The weapon hands its wielder extraordinary reach and pinpoint accuracy, letting Augur, aided by remarkable eyesight or sensing ability, land hits across enormous gaps. When he first appears, he downs a flock of seagulls so distant from Jaya that his island was nowhere in their sight. It works just as well at point-blank range and can be discharged in rapid bursts.

In non-canon material the gun's precision goes further still, shooting clean through enemy rounds in mid-flight and the barrels behind them, wrecking ammunition and firearms alike. After the timeskip Augur dispatched Charlotte Cracker's Biscuit Soldiers with single shots, and in the ninth film he loaded explosive rounds during the assault on Drum Island.
