Appearance

Augur is a lean figure who stands as tall as Blackbeard himself, his light brown hair falling to his lower neck. A look of faint sadness sits on his face almost constantly, his brows drawn together and a smile a rare thing. The right lens of his black spectacles is circular and bears what looks like a targeting reticle, while the left stays an ordinary rectangle. He favors a wide black hat shaped oddly like an overturned hull, a flowing black cape over a pale lavender shirt with loose sleeves, plain dark trousers, and a maroon belt. His enormous rifle rests against one shoulder, and after the timeskip he grew a goatee.

Personality

Cool and clinical even in the thick of combat, Augur rarely lets his expression shift, though a fight with Ace once drew a chillingly wicked grin after a shot missed its mark. Like the rest of his crew he treats fate as a guiding force, going so far as to gun down seagulls just to learn which were destined to fall. He is fiercely loyal to Teach yet unafraid to scold him for reckless decisions, often playing the voice of reason and shielding his captain's well-being, as when he doubted Caribou's sudden offer of allegiance.

Abilities

Counted among the greatest marksmen in the world, Augur fires his beloved rifle Senriku across staggering distances with pinpoint precision, his vision so keen he could tell that a sniped seagull had not died instantly. In the anime he shot clean through the bullets of Impel Down's guards and then through their gun barrels, and his eyesight let him spot Akainu aboard a distant warship. He swallowed the Wapu Wapu no Mi, a Paramecia fruit that lets him teleport himself and, through direct contact, others, though his range remained limited as his mastery was still incomplete. He showed great speed dodging Ace's fire bullets and endured shockwaves from both Whitebeard and Sengoku, recovering quickly. After joining Teach as one of the original four recruits, he rose to lead the third ship of the fleet, taking part in the duel on Banaro Island, the Marineford war, the raid on the Heart Pirates, the kidnapping of Pudding, and the confrontation with Jaygarcia Saturn on Egghead, where he declared the crew's true ambition was the world itself.
