Shinokuni is a lethal poison gas engineered by Caesar Clown on Punk Hazard. Born from blending his compressed H2S with a tainted candy, it sweeps across an area at blinding speed and turns living victims into petrified husks.
Shinokuni is a chemical weapon produced when Caesar Clown's compressed hydrogen sulfide gas is combined with a candy laced with an unidentified ingredient. The name reads as Land of Death, and Caesar developed it as a marketable horror to flaunt before the brokers of the criminal underworld.
The toxic cloud races outward at astonishing speed and petrifies any organic creature it touches, seeping through skin and into the body to lock the victim inside an ashy shell that clings to surfaces. The condition is not necessarily permanent: should the petrified casing be cracked open within roughly half a day of exposure, the afflicted can still be rescued, a weakness later wrung out of Caesar by his captors.
Caesar Clown created and deployed Shinokuni during the Punk Hazard Arc. Hoping to showcase the gas to buyers worldwide, he baited Smiley with a giant candy that reverted the creature to its gaseous state while the bait's ingredients warped the H2S into this deadlier compound, wiping out many of his own centaur underlings. Cornered by Luffy, Caesar let the gas pour into the lab and absorbed the petrifying smoke with his Gasu Gasu powers, swelling in size, then unleashed it on his subordinates as a demonstration. After his defeat, G-5 Marines forced the scientist to disclose the cure and saved the victims.
