Smiley, more often called Slime, was Caesar Clown's monstrous pet on Punk Hazard. Caesar packed the island's lingering poison gas into a giant gelatinous body, then animated it with a Zoan fruit. Loosed as a weapon, it killed without thought before a candy-fueled death birthed the petrifying Shinokuni.
True to the Slime nickname, Smiley was a colossal red-violet blob of jelly, so enormous that onlookers took it for a mountain. The power of its fruit lent the mass an axolotl's outline, complete with eyes, a mouth, stubby legs, a tail fin, and feathery external gills. It could split into lesser blobs, though those smaller fragments held no axolotl shape. Its entire body was potent poison, so it leaked toxic vapor that harmed anyone who breathed or touched it, and the substance burned corrosively on contact.
Smiley grasped almost nothing of what it did, pressing endlessly onward after release and crushing several of Caesar's own men along the way. Even so, it understood that water posed a threat and figured out how to skirt open water by flinging chunks of itself across. It heeded Caesar's spoken orders almost instantly, though now and then it brushed him off entirely when something else drew its interest.
The creature's roots trace to a disaster four years prior, when Caesar set off an illegal chemical weapon on the island as Vegapunk moved to dismiss him. Coming back a year later, he gathered the leftover H2S gas into a slime and brought it to life with the Axolotl-model Sara Sara no Mi, a Zoan-class fruit that granted the mass awareness; because of its strange makeup it could probably hold only a hybrid form. He then kept it confined for three years. When the Straw Hats and the G-5 Marines stirred up trouble, Caesar let his pet loose, and it spread out at once, slaying some of his subordinates while Zoro spotted the advancing bulk and mistook it for a peak. At the lake dividing the frozen and fiery halves, the creature hurled pieces of itself onto the ice side, and some landed on the G-5 ship before fusing into a larger form. After Marines wounded it with blades and were poisoned, one tried a flamethrower, and the burning slime detonated in a massive blast that wrecked the vessel and rained poison across the battlefield. It shrugged off intense heat yet exploded violently when set directly alight, a quirk Caesar abused by latching fragments onto enemies and lighting them. It could also spit globs that became independent miniature copies, the Smilies, free to merge again at will. Its end came when it ignored Caesar's order and swallowed a giant piece of bait candy whole; the treat dissolved inside it, its eyes went dim, and its body reverted to gas as a nearby apple turned into a Devil Fruit, signaling death. That gas mutated into the far deadlier Shinokuni, which petrified rather than poisoned everything it reached, and the creature's sacrifice ultimately amounted to nothing once the G-5 Marines tortured Caesar into revealing how the toxin could be countered.

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
In One Piece, Smiley, also called Slime, is Caesar Clown's monstrous pet on Punk Hazard, a colossal blob made of leftover poison gas that he fused with a Zoan Devil Fruit to bring to life. Loosed as a weapon, it killed indiscriminately until a candy fueled death produced the deadlier gas Shinokuni.
