Summary

Among the crew's many targets was the International Philanthropy Federation, whose treasure Linlin dismissed as a hoard dressed up as charity. Shiki's attempt to thin out his own allies with a bomb during the raid bred bad blood, and when the high priest sealed the gates to trap them, Newgate broke them loose by heaving the entire structure upward with his tremors, a feat that left Kaidou hungry for such power. The Marines turned up unusually fast, so rather than run, Rocks commanded his people to hit back and strip them bare. Over the two years since the crew formed, they had carried out sixteen raids, sent seventy-six ships under, torched fourteen ports, flattened five towns, and ruined a kingdom, a tide of crime that branded the period the Era of Rocks even with Roger already at sea.

Key Events

Harald's plan to settle a debt with Enishi for famine relief fell apart when the World Government seized that nation's people on the grounds it had no allegiance, then gunned down a captive in front of him. His enraged assault on the ship was twisted by the press into the act of a brute attacking innocents under cover of seeking an alliance. Sharing a drink at Ida's bar, Rocks pressed him to quit chasing the government's favor and instead help tear it down, but Harald swore to win Elbaph a lawful seat one day. Ida cut in that, were the king a child of hers, she would urge him toward better company than Rocks. At Marine Headquarters, Garp, Sengoku, and Tsuru leaned on Kong to admit Elbaph and bring more giants into the ranks, yet Kong said the old grievances made any such change impossible.

Notes

Some forty-two years prior to the current day, word that Shakuyaku had walked away from the Kuja Pirates rattled the world and crushed the fans who hoped to glimpse her at sea. Ferried to Hachinosu by Tritoma, she asked the lovestruck pirates to shield her for a while, and when the Rocks crew returned they discovered her legendary Rip-Off Bar already running under the name Shakky, every one of them eagerly agreeing to keep the island's new prize. The Five Elders, meanwhile, set their condition for Elbaph's entry: its warriors must put Rocks to death themselves. The chapter marks the debut of Tritoma in the main story and the first silhouettes of several Five Elders. Its cover continues the Yamato pilgrimage serial.
