Summary

With Buggy beaten, the trio readies to sail off carrying the captured riches, Nami having split the haul into two sacks. The townspeople rush in, discover their unconscious mayor Boodle, and demand to know who is responsible. Luffy owns up to it, then cheerfully confirms he is a pirate, which turns the crowd into a furious mob giving chase. As they bolt for the harbor, Luffy notes the town must be a fine place, since its people were willing to fight pirates just to defend one man.

The dog Chouchou plants himself in the road and blocks the villagers, repaying Luffy for avenging the wreck of his late owner's shop. Closer to the boat, three of Buggy's stragglers, the same crooks Nami once robbed and Zoro later thrashed, try to stop them, but a single glare from the worn-out swordsman sends the cowards scrambling away in terror.

When they begin badmouthing the crew, he snaps that only he has earned the right to insult them, and he dashes to the docks to offer his thanks. As the small craft pulls away, Luffy reveals he abandoned his entire bag of treasure on the shore so the village could rebuild. Enraged by the giveaway, Nami brands him an idiot and threatens to toss him into the sea.
