Chapter 213: VIP

Having rested, Chopper looks after his injured shipmates so well that a palace physician is left amazed; once Vivi notes the reindeer comes from the doctor-famous Drum Kingdom, the old man admits four decades of practice never produced anything to match it. Through the streets, Sanji and Usopp gather fresh stock and remark on the toughness of the townsfolk as the city repairs itself, passing the stretch wrecked during the run-in among Smoker, Ace, and their captain. Off on his own, Zoro has picked up his training again, certain he cannot claim real strength until the power that felled Mr. 1 answers to him on demand. Nami, meanwhile, helps herself to Cobra's whole library, which the king happily lets her take, and at the gate Chaka bickers with the Marines over sheltering pirates.

Luffy then jolts awake bellowing for his hat and a meal, floored to discover three full days slipped by, a loss he tallies as fifteen missed feedings. Terracotta, who runs the palace staff and is Igaram's wife, brings him fruit to hold him over, her near-identical likeness to her husband baffling both Luffy and Zoro.

At the royal feast Luffy inhales his portions and starts raiding everyone else's plates, sparking a frenzied, joyful scramble that wins over the guards, who are glad to watch Vivi laugh again. The men later get caught peeking into the women's side of the separated baths, and Nami charges each of them a fee. Soaking beside Vivi, she discloses the plan to slip off that very night, since Luffy has mended and the patrolling Marines endanger the Going Merry. Cobra bows low to the crew in thanks, saying that stripped of clothing there is no king present, only a grateful father.

With the downpour over, the people of Arabasta start rebuilding, and the crew readies to leave. Luffy's reward climbs to 100,000,000 berries for toppling Crocodile, while Zoro earns his very first, set at 60,000,000 berries, credited to overcoming Mr. 1 alongside the swarm of bounty hunters back at the desert town of Whisky Peak. Chaka and Igaram pore over the new posters, and the rank of Admiral within the Marines is named for the first time. The chapter opens on a color spread of the crew set upon by gulls and pigs drifting down on parachutes.
