While the patrons sneer, Nami pleads with the pair to stand and fight, but Sarquiss observes they are shrewd enough to keep clear of Bellamy. Beaten bloody from head to toe, the two still hold back even as he spits his drink across them and lands more blows. When Sarquiss proposes buying Nami away from such a hopeless pair, she shoots back that she is far too valuable for a crew of losers like his, which only feeds the laughter around the room. Eyes brimming, she hauls her wounded friends out the door as the crowd taunts them.

Out in the street, the cherry-pie-loving man tells Nami there is nothing to grieve, insisting the two actually came out of this the winners. A brief memory flickers of the captain swearing to Shanks and Ace that he would one day outdo them. The stranger scoffs at the so-called New Age, proclaiming the time of pirates who dream will go on forever and that human dreams have no limit, that certain fights are settled without a single punch. As he wanders off wishing them luck reaching the sky island, the captain remarks the figure is not a single "he" at all. Zoro guesses it is really a "them." Meanwhile, Sanji and Usopp catch a strange "Salvage" chant and notice a boat closing in.

This Jaya Arc chapter takes its title from a remark Gol D. Roger made in Chapter 100, where he named three forces no one can halt: the will passed down through generations, the dreams of people, and the tides of the eras. The first of those later titled Chapter 145, and the third would name a far later chapter. Shanks and Ace appear only in flashback.
