Chapter 587

Remembering the king's hollow vow to make him a noble, Bluejam realizes the aristocrats fed him a lie to use his crew, whose ship now stands wrapped in fire with no way out. He catches sight of Ace and Luffy attempting their escape, and his men seize the pair, demanding Ace point them to the hidden loot. When one of them gashes Luffy across the brow and prepares to kill him, Ace's rage boils over and he wipes out the whole band, awakening conqueror's spirit without realizing it.

Shaken by the boy's power, Bluejam knocks Ace down and lines up a shot to finish him, only for Dadan and her mountain band to burst in and shield the two, the captain dropping under a swing of Dadan's axe. The bandits haul Luffy back to tend his wounds, while Ace refuses to leave and Dadan stays to back him in the brawl. Over in Gray Terminal the trapped residents give themselves up for dead until a blast clears a flameless road leading to a moored vessel, where Ivankov, Kuma, and Dragon welcome them aboard before sailing off. The following morning, with Ace and Dadan still gone, the hurt Luffy insists on hunting for them as soldiers clear the rubble. Once an arriving ceremony for the visiting nobles draws near, a single boat slips out to sea bearing Sabo, who notes the fine weather and at last sets out to chase the pirate life.

Ace is revealed to wield Supreme King Haki, and Kuma is shown serving the Revolutionary cause for the very first time. Dragon and his followers carry the people of Gray Terminal to safety, the district burns down completely, and Sabo leaves Goa to take up piracy. The cover pictures Dragon and Ivankov tipping elephant-shaped watering cans over a row of delighted Den Den Mushi, the spray throwing up rainbows.
