An earlier attempt to tear them free had set off an alarm, and Reiju had warned that nothing short of Big Mom's keys could unlock them. A memory returns of Zeff wrapping his injured hands during boyhood while pounding home the lesson that a cook's hands have no business in combat, and his mounting rage spills out as a shout across the night.

Elsewhere, in Sweet City, Brook and Pedro emerge through the Shark Submerge III and catch townspeople gossiping that Jinbe took back his bid to quit Big Mom's service once he heard her terms. The portrayal of him as a coward feels wrong to them, given the fish-man they remember. They then notice Pudding picking out a wedding gown alongside Baron Tamago and conclude she never escaped her minders, which means the couple Luffy glimpsed on the coast could not have been the two of them. More alarmingly, they hear soldiers reciting the rescue party's precise movements throughout Totto Land.

Along the northeastern shore, Capone Bege stands with his wife Charlotte Chiffon, their baby son Pez, and the Fire Tank Pirates over a tied-up Pekoms. The lion mink cautions that dismissing Big Mom so lightly will be Bege's ruin, and in answer Bege shoots him off the ledge into shark-infested water. Within the chateau, Big Mom orders Caesar Clown back onto a formula meant to enlarge her relatives into giants; privately he considers it hopeless and admits he spent her money, yet she leaves him reeling by revealing she reconstructed his ruined Punk Hazard laboratory entirely from candy and hardened iron plating. Her eldest, Charlotte Perospero, leads him to it and threatens to convert him into candy should he fail to finish the work within a fortnight. After dark, Luffy drags still more captured duplicates into a clearing already stacked with bound copies of Sanji, Pudding, Nami, Chopper, and Carrot, mystified as to why they keep multiplying.

The installment verifies that Pudding never reached Luffy, discloses that Bege wed Chiffon and became the father of Pez, and confirms the Fire Tank Pirates had seized Pekoms. It launches Big Mom's giant-drug undertaking, brings in Charlotte Perospero with his Pero Pero no Mi, and reveals that Caesar's heart now belongs to Perospero.
