Chapter 914, set in the scraps-town of Okobore, sees Tsuru nurse Tama and recount Wano's lost golden age before two Gifters strike, one kidnapping Tama. Luffy, Zoro, and the secretly skilled Kiku give chase toward Bakura, while a panicked Law moves to stop them.
At Tsuru's teahouse, Tama rallies after sipping the herbal tea, though Tsuru warns the herb only aids recovery and does not undo the poison, urging rest. Outside, Kiku tends Zoro's wounds before formal introductions. Tama at first refuses the oshiruko Tsuru prepared, ashamed she cannot pay, but on Kiku's prompting she accepts and is overwhelmed by the flavor, calling it the finest day of her life as Tsuru tears up. The two pirates give their aliases, Zorojuro and Luffytaro, and Tsuru explains the country's decline. Twenty years ago the Kouzuki Family ruled a paradise, but under the shogun Kurozumi Orochi the land rotted. Orochi keeps a private farm of clean water and good food, while Okobore scrapes by on the leftovers its wealthier neighbor discards.
An arrow flies at Tsuru, blocked at the last instant by Zoro's blade. The shooter is Batman, whose batlike SMILE grants keen hearing, and he claims the shogun's will justifies killing anyone who speaks against him. Accusing the pirates of looting the farm, he unleashes a volley that Zoro deflects, recognizing him as the wanted One-Eyed Ronin. While Kiku shields Tsuru, the gazelle SMILE user Gazelleman seizes Tama and bolts off at blistering speed. Kiku grabs a sword, mounts Komachiyo, and pursues, revealing her true swordsmanship. Held back by Batman's arrows, Luffy and Zoro suspect the abduction was staged. Kiku deduces they are bound for the government-run Bakura Town and warns of the Shinuchi and thirty SMILE users there. Asked who she really is, she answers simply that she is a samurai.
Tama recovers from her sickness. The Kouzuki Family's rule over Wano more than two decades earlier is confirmed, and the mountain where Oden's castle stood is shown. Tama is carried off by Gazelleman, prompting Luffy, Zoro, and Kiku to follow. Kiku is revealed as a samurai. As the group enters Bakura, the Heart Pirates alert their captain Trafalgar Law to Luffy's presence, and a frantic Law orders them stopped before they wreak havoc.

Chapter 914 has Tsuru nurse Tama back to health at her teahouse in Okobore Town while recounting Wano's lost golden age. Two Gifters then attack, kidnapping Tama, and Luffy, Zoro, and Kiku give chase toward Bakura Town.
Tsuru explains that twenty years earlier the Kouzuki Family ruled Wano as a paradise, but the land rotted under the shogun Kurozumi Orochi. She notes that Orochi keeps a private farm of clean water and good food while Okobore Town survives on the leftovers its wealthier neighbor discards.
The bat SMILE user Batman fires an arrow at Tsuru, which Zoro blocks, while the gazelle SMILE user Gazelleman seizes Tama and flees at high speed. Both Gifters serve the shogun's regime and claim looting the farm justifies their attack.
Tama is kidnapped by the Gifter Gazelleman and carried off toward the government-run Bakura Town. Kiku suspects the abduction was staged to lure Luffy and Zoro away from Okobore Town.
When the Heart Pirates alert Trafalgar Law that Luffy has entered Bakura Town, a frantic Law orders his crew to stop Luffy and Zoro before they cause chaos. This happens as the group chases after the kidnapped Tama.
