Summary

Standing on Loguetown's execution platform, Luffy is approached by a striking woman who insists she knows him. She turns out to be Alvida, reshaped after eating a Devil Fruit, and now allied with the resurfacing Buggy Pirates seeking payback. Cabaji seizes Luffy and pins his head in place to mimic Roger's final moment. Hearing the disturbance, Captain Smoker and his sergeant Tashigi move to lock down the plaza, while the scattered Straw Hats reunite and recoil at the danger their captain is in.

Key Events

While Sanji eyes an exotic tuna and Usopp hunts bargains, Nami senses an approaching storm. Luffy, marveling at the view from the scaffold, refuses an officer's order to climb down before Alvida flattens the man. She reveals her Sube Sube no Mi power as a thrown chunk of fountain simply slides off her flawless skin. Buggy confirms her identity to a baffled Luffy and blames him for the misery he suffered while shrunken and crewless. Cabaji then traps Luffy in place, setting the stage for an execution that echoes Gold Roger's.

Notes

Smoker receives his formal introduction, as does Tashigi, the swordswoman who reminded Zoro of Kuina. Smoker orders every road to the platform sealed and the harbor surrounded, though he has never heard of Luffy. Alvida's transformation via the Sube Sube no Mi is confirmed, leaving her far prettier than before. The cover continues the Koby-Meppo diary, with Koby bravely shielding Morgan's escape boat from cannon fire to spare Helmeppo.
