A shabby gold crown perched on his head is the detail that lends this vagrant his imperial title. Beneath it he looks thoroughly unkempt, his black hair worn long and greasy, a scruffy beard on his chin, and dark bags hanging under tired eyes. His wardrobe is pure street castoff: a faded tracksuit rendered pink in the manga and orange on screen, fingerless gloves, worn athletic sneakers, and a ragged cape knotted at the throat that the anime tints beige rather than green.

Once an ordinary wage earner scraping by, he was broken by humiliation and misfortune until his resentment hardened into something colder. Gazing up at the open sky one day, he let go of his grudges and decided that people, himself included, amount to almost nothing against the scale of the natural world. That thought curdled into despair; convinced humanity had poisoned its bond with the planet, he judged that dying was the only clean way out. Everything changed when a presence he calls God offered him power instead of an ending.

From then on he carried a savior's certainty, believing he was singled out to wipe out mankind and restore the Earth to nature. He looks down on modern civilization, on other Mysterious Beings he deems dull and unworthy, and on the heroes he is sure he alone can annihilate, taunting Zombieman with easy contempt. Underneath the swagger, though, sits a nagging secret. Stripped of his light, he is just a frail man, and the mere thought of monsters like Black Sperm noticing that weakness genuinely unnerves him.

Before any of this, he was a fresh recruit at a company whose welcoming party turned into a nightmare. A manager forced him to parade nude through the festivities, after which he was branded a harasser and fired. Losing his job cost him his home, and he drifted into a park as a recluse. Standing at the edge of suicide by hanging, he was met by a mysterious entity claiming to be God, which told him it shared his disgust for humankind and handed him the power of light rather than let him die. He rose resolved to exterminate the species.

Within the Monster Association he ranks as a Dragon-level executive. He fights strictly at range, conjuring spheres of energy that detonate on contact, can be swelled to enormous size, and can be steered after launch to chase fleeing targets; his body, by contrast, is no sturdier than a normal person's, so he avoids close combat entirely. During the assault on the Monster Association Headquarters he ambushes Zombieman and pins him with a barrage that outpaces the hero's regeneration, only for Tatsumaki to wrench the whole base skyward and split the two apart. He later rains fire on Iaian, Atomic Samurai, and Spring Mustachio with his Extreme Carpet Bombing, spares Fuhrer Ugly for possible later use, and joins Black Sperm, Golden Sperm, and Evil Natural Water in a wary standoff against King.

That confrontation unravels when King's cryptic warnings make him fear his human fragility has been laid bare, and Zombieman bursts from the ground to seize his neck. In the middle of Zombieman's interrogation, God surfaces in his mind and tears away both his life and his borrowed power, leaving his body to crumble.
