Royal Ripper

Character

Royal Ripper is a blade-handed Monster Association killer whispered about as an urban legend, a Demon-level menace who slaughters purely for pleasure. So unhinged that even fellow monsters keep their distance, he met his end at Garou's hands after tormenting the captured boy Tareo.

Appearance

In place of hands, Royal Ripper carries long, straight blades that he lets scrape along the floor to unsettle those around him. Bandages swaddle nearly all of his humanoid body, leaving only a single right eye and a spill of long, unkempt dark hair on view. A ragged dress hangs over the wrappings, paired with plain black shoes. Beneath it all there is nothing resembling human anatomy, just a revolting knot of blood, hair, and gauze.

Personality

A craving to maim and kill consumes Royal Ripper, who delights in carving up anyone at all, ally or enemy alike. His bloodlust runs cruelest toward children, a compulsion so strong that his fellow monsters simply expected him to vanish with a young captive. Phoenix Man branded him a singular psychopath who kills for the thrill, and even other monsters give him a wide berth. He professed no loyalty to the Monster Association, telling Tareo that butchering living things was the only thing that made his life worth anything. For all his menace he behaved oddly childishly, tacking playful honorifics onto his comrades, yet his murder-lust could seize him at any moment, as when he ambushed a distracted Garou and kept slashing long after the fighter had gone down.

History

Royal Ripper first tried to slaughter Narinki's Private Squad, only for Do-S to rein him in, after which Gyoro Gyoro paired him with Bug God to watch whether Garou would carry out Orochi's assignment. When the Hero Hunter's monstrousness came into question, Royal Ripper demanded he prove it by killing Tareo, but his own urges boiled over and he and Bug God turned on Garou instead. Garou held the pair off until Sludge Jellyfish grabbed Tareo, and the distraction let Royal Ripper cut him down badly; believing Garou dead, the monsters withdrew with the boy. Back at the association's base he locked Tareo in with Waganma and left to recover, then returned to single out Tareo for his amusement. Garou smashed through the wall before the torture began, tore off Royal Ripper's head, and used Whirlwind Iron Cutting Fist to shred the body apart, afterward using the loose bandages to dress his own wounds.

As a Demon-level monster Royal Ripper was formidable, able to press Garou alongside Bug God and even leave him near death, though Garou noted he fell well short of Bang and figured he could have beaten him outright. Their rematch, against a Garou strengthened by encroaching monsterization, went quickly against Royal Ripper, yet he still drove a blade through Garou's stomach at the very instant his head was punched off. His speed let him fell rushing monsters before they closed in and slip behind a distracted opponent, and his strength cleaved through several enemies at once. He shrugged off a hard kick and recovered fast, tracked humans by scent, and could reallocate his own joints to swing his blade-arms more freely, all feeding the frenzied, erratic swordsmanship he favored.
