Tank Topper Army

Every fighter in the army sports a tank top, with the specific design differing from one member to the next. To them the garment is no fashion choice but a badge of strength and pride, and most treat it with near-worship. That reverence bleeds into their attitude: the members tend to be brash and arrogant toward outsiders, though never toward their leader, whose disapproval of such conduct they largely ignore. They cling to Tanktop Master's every word and hold that real power is earned through the tank top. Fittingly, the leader believes this most fervently of all, once concluding that Bang's dominance over Metal Bat in a sparring bout must stem from a tank top hidden beneath his clothes.

In combat the members lean on their fists, favoring grappling and wrestling holds over anything flashy. Many carry Hero Association licenses, several placing respectably in the rankings, and working in concert the army can bring down a Demon-level monster, though how much of that owes to Tanktop Master's help is unclear. That collective might counted for nothing against Garou, who flattened the entire group, leader included.

The army's members repeatedly cross Saitama's path early on. Tanktop Tiger taunts him during the Rumored Monster Arc before Speed-o'-Sound Sonic knocks him out with exploding shuriken, and in the Giant Meteor Arc Tiger and his brother Tanktop Black Hole accuse Saitama of stealing credit, whipping a civilian mob into a hostile publicity stunt that ends with both brothers easily beaten. Tanktop Master, meanwhile, attends the S-Class meeting during the Alien Conquerors Arc and later tries and fails to aid Tatsumaki against the Dark Matter Thieves.

The group's darkest hour comes in the Hero Hunt Arc, when Garou downs Tanktop Vegetarian, then the whole army, and finally Tanktop Master himself, unleashing his Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist to crush them all alongside Mumen Rider. During the Monster Association Arc, Tanktop Master leaves the hospital to help evacuate wounded civilians in the Z-City area, inspiring the rest of the army to follow and pitch in. Later, after many members quit in the wake of the Monster Association crisis, three C-Class heroes join fresh, and a reshaped roster under Tanktop Girl fights the Forest Tribe in Y-City until the Forest King binds them and Genos intervenes.

Tanktop Master leads the army, with active members including Tanktop Al Dente, Tanktop Girl, Tanktop Hatter, Tanktop Rockabilly, and Tanktop Racer, plus recruits Hyottoko, Studless, and Gasmask Cowboy. A number of figures have since departed, among them Tanktop Black Hole, Tanktop Tiger, Tanktop Doctor, Tanktop Jungle, Tanktop Mask, Tanktop Swimmer, and the A-Class Tanktop Vegetarian. The whole army operates under the Hero Association.
