B-Class

A care package turns up outside Saitama's apartment, stuffed with letters from the public. Nearly everything addressed to Genos is glowing, while most of the mail for Saitama drips with contempt. Genos boils over at how little credit his master receives for the countless lives he has saved, and though Saitama brushes the hostility aside, the cyborg regrets ever showing him the pile. Buried among them, however, is a single heartfelt thank-you note. Soon after, the Hero Association calls Saitama in to congratulate him on reaching the number one spot in C-Class and to ask, in an interview, whether he wishes to stay put or advance to B-Class.

Saitama opts to move up and is put through a psychological evaluation. From an observation area above, Association staff watch and argue over whether he is a fraud. Sweet Mask is brought in as an adviser but waves the matter off, saying his input is wasted on something as minor as a B-Class promotion; he only cares to weigh in on candidates rising to A-Class and beyond, since those heroes carry real weight for the organization's image. Afterward, Saitama stops at a nearby food stall and runs into Mumen Rider, learning that the rider was the one who wrote the grateful letter. The two exchange a smile and order mozuku.

Fan mail arrives praising Genos and insulting Saitama, angering Genos, though one thank-you note lifts Saitama's spirits. The Hero Association promotes Saitama to first in C-Class and offers him a move to B-Class, which he accepts after a psychoanalysis test. Sweet Mask dismisses the promotion as beneath his attention. Saitama later discovers that Mumen Rider wrote the kind letter, and the two share a meal.

This twenty-ninth chapter is grouped under the Sea Monster Arc and was collected in Volume 5. It released on September 19, 2013, has no direct webcomic counterpart, and is adapted in Episode 10 of the anime. Several future S-Class figures, including Fubuki, appear here only in silhouette.
