Standing well above the height of an ordinary person, Andre carries a bulky frame whose legs look slender next to his thick arms and torso. Curly black hair, full lips, a powerful jawline, and pointed teeth define his face. His usual outfit pairs a deep purple pirate coat, trimmed in lighter purple at the collar and cuffs and laced with golden rope along the buttons, with white trousers and tall gray boots. Back during his original stint with the Whitebeard crew, he favored overalls worn over a collared shirt instead.

Loyalty and companionship rank above Andre's own survival in his eyes, and his admiration for Whitebeard ran deep enough that he gambled his life on the attempt to free Ace from execution. Courage came naturally to him as well; he refused to back down when Akainu moved to finish off Luffy. A protective streak also surfaced when he fretted over Luffy's wellbeing after Kizaru's attack.

His ties to the Whitebeard Pirates reach back three decades, when he counted among the founding members. He was present at Wano when the crew first arrived, witnessing Oden cling to a chain dragged behind the Moby Dick and endure the multi-day ordeal that earned him a place aboard. He later attended the meeting where Whitebeard divided the crew into five divisions, and he took up arms against the Roger Pirates in a clash that lasted three days and nights before closing with an exchange of gifts. In time Andre built his own crew and made a name as a New World captain, yet he remained subordinate to Whitebeard.

When Ace faced execution at Marineford, Andre brought his crew alongside the allied fleet of forty-three subordinate captains, catching the Marines off guard. He charged with Ninth and Rush, then joined other captains in forming a protective ring that pushed Luffy toward the platform, cheering once Ace was loosed. After Ace died and Whitebeard severed the pirates from the Marines, Andre called for everyone to retreat. He later teamed with Crocodile and the division commanders to block Akainu's pursuit of Luffy, and he grew anxious when Kizaru fired into the sea after the fleeing submarine. Once the war ended, he attended the funeral held for Whitebeard and Ace.
