Summary

With Minimalist dispatched by Nagumo posing as Aoi, the thread-user Apart stands as the final condemned killer still fighting. Sakamoto meets him head-on as Apart confesses a lifetime of failed human bonds and the twisted connection he found in killing. Hampered by a body that refuses to slim down, Sakamoto commits to a one-on-one duel. Far from the fray, the mastermind Slur nurses a larger aim: a plan built to shake the entire world of hired killers.

Key Events

The battle climbs across the steel skeleton of the tower, where Apart uses his strings to slice into the structure and set it leaning dangerously over the streets below. Sakamoto scrambles along the beams to steady the tilt while crowds react to the swaying landmark. Flashbacks lay out Apart's childhood, his distant parents, and the rage that first drove him to kill. Sakamoto argues that taking lives only cuts a person off from the world. When Takamura appears at the scene, his bloodlust puts Sakamoto on edge before the swordsman departs. Sakamoto finishes the fight by hurling wreckage and knocking Apart from the tower, and as the beaten killer falls he weeps amid memories of his mother, friends, and father.

Notes

Afterward an oddly calm Apart shares tea with the group at Miya's clinic, pretending to sleep before testing them, and they make clear they would sooner recruit him than kill him. The episode also expands on the workings of the JAA and introduces Gaku alongside Uzuki as they slip past police. Apart's parents debut in flashback, and the adaptation reworks the finish so Sakamoto tears a lighthouse loose and kicks Apart into the void rather than felling him with an antenna. It adapts chapters 48 through 50, aired on August 4, 2025, and belongs to the Death Row Prisoners Arc under the themes Method and Dandelion.
