Higure Akiyama

Higure has greenish-brown eyes set against very dark blue hair, which she gathers into a single bun and pairs with glasses. Once the Youma seizes control of her, that image falls apart. The glasses vanish, her hair spills loose, her modest wardrobe gives way to something bolder, and heavy cosmetics pile on until she scarcely resembles the woman her students know.

By nature she is timid and short on self-assurance, an engaged woman quietly preparing for marriage. The Youma's grip flips that entirely, leaving her sharp, obsessive, and openly rude to anyone who crosses her, her fiance included. Once the ordeal ends she settles back into her gentle former self.

She teaches home economics at Juban Public Middle School, with Usagi, Naru, and Ami among her pupils. Nephrite fixes on her after she resolves to enter a wedding-dress design contest and heads out for fabric; acting on a nudge from Masato Sanjouin, she buys a bolt already stamped with his mark. Consumed by finishing the gown, she grows harsh and severe in both manner and looks, and she even turns her visiting fiance away at the door. After she sabotages the contest and faints, the Youma known as Black Widow breaks free of her. With the threat undone, Higure returns to her meeker self and goes on to marry her fiance. The DiC dub renamed her Helen Lambert.
