Kotono Sarashina

Kotono is drawn as one of Rei Hino's schoolmates at the academy, shown among the ordinary students rather than as any costumed figure.

Like a good many of her fellow pupils at the school, Kotono looks up to Rei Hino with plain admiration.

Kotono leads the Supernatural Research Club at T.A. Girls' Academy, and during the school festival in Act 15 she runs its booth, enlisting Rei Hino as a fortune teller. Curious about a rival fortune-telling stand, she brings Rei along to look into it, unaware that its reader is Koan, who foretells visitors' deaths and dangles salvation before anyone willing to join the Black Moon. The pair hurry off to warn the academy's nuns but instead run into disguised Droids, and when the false nuns erupt in flame, the shock makes Kotono collapse. She afterward spreads word of what the intruders have done and worries over her friends. In Act 18, Calaveras seizes on Kotono, along with Naru Osaka and Ittou Asanuma, to call back the spirits of the fallen Spectre Sisters. Away from the fighting, her family keeps a soba noodle shop, and her younger brother Kyuusuke treasures a Sailor V badge she crafted for him. He attends the same elementary school as Chibiusa, and after the two children are rescued by Sailor V and Sailor Moon, Kotono makes a Sailor Moon badge that Kyuusuke passes on to Chibiusa.
