Pharmakon

Character

Pharmakon is a droid that Esmeraude unleashes in Sailor Moon R, tasked with soaking Tokyo in dark energy. Her name borrows the Greek word for a drug or poison, a fitting label for a monster who spreads sickness from behind a nurse's smile.

Appearance

Pharmakon passes herself off as an ordinary hospital nurse until she drops the disguise. Underneath she is a metallic creature whose arms end not in hands but in a syringe on one side and a scalpel on the other.

History

Esmeraude plants Pharmakon inside a hospital, aiming to blanket the city in dark energy by infecting everyone with the flu. Minako and Chibiusa shrug off the illness and end up nursing the other, bedridden Guardians. A trip to fetch medicine leads the pair straight into the scheme, and a fight breaks out. Pharmakon nails Sailor Venus to a wall with a volley of needles and turns on Chibiusa, but Tuxedo Mask smashes one of the needles, and the rest of the team, now recovered, arrives to join the fray. Esmeraude slips away as Sailor Moon finishes the droid off with Moon Princess Halation.

Abilities

Pharmakon fights with the tools of her disguise, firing sharp needles that can pin an enemy in place and wielding her syringe and scalpel arms in close quarters. Her real weapon, though, is contagion: she seeds a citywide outbreak of flu meant to steep the streets in dark energy.
