Battle of the Flames of Love! Mars vs. Koan

Eager to prove herself and win Rubeus over, Koan schemes to snatch Chibiusa at the Hikawa Shrine. Her plan unravels when Sailor Mars stands in her way, and the real blow lands when Rubeus casts her aside, admitting he felt nothing for her. Rei and her devotion to the wounded Yuichirou fuel the confrontation that follows.

Disguised as a cosmetics seller, Koan approaches Rei and Usagi before her attack injures Yuichirou, who shields Rei from the flames. Enraged, Rei transforms and battles Koan with Burning Mandala. Tuxedo Mask carries Chibiusa to safety, and Rubeus, furious at the failure, disowns Koan and hands her a Space-Time bomb before revealing there was never any romance. Sailor Venus deflects the explosive with Venus Love Me Chain, and Sailor Jupiter shatters it using Sparkling Wide Pressure.

Rather than finish her foe, Sailor Mars shields Koan and urges her to build a new life, then asks Sailor Moon to cleanse her. The Silver Crystal restores Koan to an ordinary woman, who later turns up cheerfully selling cosmetics near the shrine. The episode marks the first mention of Prince Demande and opens the thread in which all four Spectre Sisters are eventually redeemed. In the manga, by contrast, Koan died during her debut. A single-frame cameo of Zoisite also slips into one shot.
