The twenty-fifth SuperS episode centers on Rei. Swept up in the buzz around her fortune-telling, she gains a clingy admirer, and when the Amazoness Quartet marks the girl, Super Sailor Mars answers with a fierce new attack.
Rei finds herself basking in newfound renown for her fortune-telling, which draws an overeager fan named Nanako who refuses to give her any space. The attention curdles into danger once the Amazoness Quartet sets its sights on the girl. When the threat arrives, Rei rises to defend her admirer as Super Sailor Mars, meeting the enemy with blazing fury.
The confrontation gives Mars her power boost and a brand-new technique in the same stroke. She calls on Mars Flame Sniper for the first time in the series to drive off the attacker and protect Nanako.
The episode debuts the Mars Flame Sniper attack and the Mars Crystal Power, Make Up transformation phrase and sequence. The manga handled the upgrade differently, granting Rei a dedicated item called the Mars Arrow and having her crow guardians Phobos and Deimos deliver both her new attack and her Super form. It was one of the entries left out of the Korean KBS broadcast. This installment also marks the last time several of the girls appear helping out in shrine maiden garb at the Hikawa Shrine.
