Summary
Kunzite discovers that the Moon Princess was once celebrated for her elegant skating and tries to weaponize that fact to lure out Sailor Moon. His plan runs aground because the finest skater among the girls proves to be Makoto rather than Usagi. Tuxedo Mask steps in as well, moved less by loyalty than by his distaste for Kunzite dragging innocent people into the scheme. The DiC dub called it Ice Princess.
Key Events
Watching a broadcast starring the former gold medalists Misha and Janelyn, Usagi learns from her cats that skating was once the moon's favorite pastime and that the princess had a gift for it. Kunzite, pressed by Beryl for the Silver Crystal and mocked by Endymion for relying on traps, recruits the two skaters, whose partnership is already fraying. Usagi and Minako round up five girls for a free lesson, where Makoto glides across the rink with ease while Usagi cannot even stand.
Suspecting Makoto might be Sailor Moon, Misha partners with her and she cheerfully hoists him overhead, sparking Janelyn's jealousy. When the coach refuses to let Makoto go, Janelyn transforms into a Youma and Misha is turned as well, the pair rounding on Makoto. Usagi transforms, but even the retractable skates in her boots cannot keep her upright until Endymion flings her into the air and she lands cleanly, suddenly able to skate.
Sailor Jupiter arrives with Supreme Thunder and the rest of the team follows, prompting Kunzite to blast freezing air through the rink's vents before retreating. Endymion wrecks the machine feeding the cold, and Sailor Moon's Moon Healing Escalation restores Misha and Janelyn to their human selves.
