The Moonlight Stick is the crescent-tipped wand of the live-action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, carried in separate versions by Sailor Moon and by Sailor Luna. Each guardian summons her own copy, and the two put it to very different uses across attacks, healing, and shape-shifting.
Appearing only in the live-action continuity, the wand looks much like the Moon Stick of the animated and printed stories, though here its crescent is fashioned from crystal and the Silver Crystal is never joined to it. Where the item truly comes from is never explained; it seems to take shape straight out of the Heart Moon Brooch. Sailor Moon calls it forth by holding two extended fingers before her brooch and sweeping her hand up and to the right, at which point the wand emerges from the ornament.
The weapon proves fragile at key moments yet oddly resilient. Dark Mercury's blade smashes it during one encounter, but it turns up again intact soon after with no account of the repair. A later blast from Metalia Endymion, deflected by the wand, breaks it apart once more and makes it vanish, only for it to return in time for the finale.
In Sailor Moon's hands the wand powers Moon Healing Escalation, Moon Twilight Flash, Moonlight Attractive Attack, and the group technique Sailor Planet Attack. It debuts in the opening act as she confronts the youma that has taken over Naru's mother, and it resurfaces in the finale so the guardians can combine forces and finish off Queen Mio.
Sailor Luna's version works quite differently. She uses hers to unleash Luna Sucre Candy, and it can morph into an assortment of objects such as a net or a paper fan, a talent that echoes the role Luna-P plays in the manga and anime. In Naoko Takeuchi's early concept sketch, Luna instead carried a rod crowned with a cat's head.
Sailor Moon is the primary bearer, relying on the wand for both offense and healing throughout the series and defending herself with it when Metalia Endymion strikes. Sailor Luna wields the second copy purely as a transforming tool, conjuring candy and reshaping the stick as the situation demands. Because both weapons materialize from within Usagi's brooch and behave so unlike the classic Moon Stick, their exact nature stays a mystery.
