Asakura

Asakura stands at an ordinary height and build, his brown hair pulled up into a topknot above sunken black eyes, thin brows, and a scruff of unshaven beard. His usual outfit is a seafoam green polo worn under a white lab coat, short salmon-colored trousers, and dark brown sandals.

Once convinced he had no talent for children, Asakura gradually softened into a genuine father figure for Shin. He carries real guilt over how things unfolded, especially after his fellow researchers began keeping their distance from the boy.

Asakura works at the Okutabi Lab, a hidden research center tucked beneath the Okutabi Science Museum, where he devotes himself to studying superhuman abilities. Shin came into his life as an infant, left behind by an old friend named Ando, and over the years Asakura raised the boy as his own. His research took a fateful turn when a drowsy, thirsty Shin swallowed an experimental chemical and woke with the power to read minds, a gift the child used to blurt out his coworkers' private thoughts. As the lab staff pulled away from Shin, a guilt-ridden Asakura set about inventing a drug to undo the power, though Shin never blamed him for it. After the two parted, encouragement from Lu Shaotang, whom he met when she was mistakenly abducted, pushed him to apologize, and he was left relieved to see Shin thriving with the Sakamoto family.
