Chapter 107: Reminiscence

The chapter opens a flashback set eight years earlier. A young Rion Akao rides atop a speeding train, unable to light her cigarette, and flings the lighter away in irritation. Nagumo drops out of the air with a blade; she parries it without a flinch and asks whether he carries a spare light. His reply is a drawn handgun, which Rion promptly wrecks before pressing a counterattack that Nagumo turns aside with his forearm.

Elsewhere, Etsuko Satoda oversees a classroom during a live combat drill. Her students grumble that everyone else was tagged out with paintballs hours ago, leaving only Sakamoto, Nagumo, and Rion still brawling after nine unbroken hours. Satoda shrugs it off, reasoning that bottling up that trio's energy risks a fatal outburst on campus, a remark that leaves the other students desperate to go home.

The fight spills off the train roof when a tunnel forces Rion and Nagumo to smash down through the windows. Sakamoto strolls in gripping a torn loose handrail and sweeps it at both of them. Grinning, Nagumo fans out seven hidden blades and wagers that the loser buys dinner. Rion triggers her Paths, the sightlines she reads toward killing a target, and lunges for Sakamoto's skull, but he blocks with the rail, hooks its rings onto both rivals' arms, and hurls the three of them out a second story window.

Locked together in the air, Rion levels two pistols while Nagumo lays a knife across Sakamoto's throat, a deadlock broken only when they spot Satoda glaring up from the street and barking at them to come down. In the faculty office, a teacher named Yamada expels all three for wrecking property and grabbing weapons yet again. He then hands them a mission tied to their advancement exams, a favor extended out of regard for Satoda. Another instructor warns that the assignment has a perfect kill rate and has never been survived, though Satoda insists the three are untouchable together. As Rion proposes settling the single target with rock paper scissors, a nervous young man bumps into her and apologizes: Uzuki. She waves him off, eager to clear the job and hit the aquarium, while Sakamoto quietly daydreams about taiyaki.

The installment reframes Sakamoto, Nagumo, and Rion Akao as reckless JCC students whose brawling gets all three expelled. Yamada, appearing for the first time, converts that punishment into a lethal graduation mission. The chapter also stages the first meeting between the trio and Uzuki, and it spells out how Rion's Paths ability works, including the note that Kindaka once foiled it by splashing alcohol into her eyes.

Reminiscence opens Volume 13 and continues the Taro Sakamoto's Past Arc. It ran in issue 12 of 2023, dated February 20, 2023, across nineteen pages, and carried a color spread. The chapter follows Chapter 106 and leads into Chapter 108.
