Chapter 108: Assassin Department Store

Freshly issued their JCC cards, Sakamoto, Nagumo, and Rion set out on assignment, with Yamada attaching Uzuki to the group at the last moment. Rion's attempt to warm up to Uzuki is politely rebuffed. Their target is Steel Dragon, the operator of a black market weapons ring, and their leads point to a department store he is known to frequent. The building forces every visitor to check their weapons at the door.

The elevator attendant turns out to be a planted assassin, whom Sakamoto disables by cutting her throat with the edge of his card. Under questioning she admits the store is merely a cover for Steel Dragon. Aware that eyes are on them, the four break into pairs, and Sakamoto and Nagumo climb toward the upper floors.

On the clothing level, Rion silently drops several enemies and drags one into a fitting room to interrogate him, until Uzuki halts her with a steadying hand. Up among the electronics, Sakamoto and Nagumo struggle to pass as ordinary shoppers within a crowd of killers. A man lounging in a massage chair asks after Satoda, recalling that she once turned down an invitation to his group. He confirms he is Steel Dragon, gives his name as Kindaka, and calls himself the head of The Order before demanding to know which of them is strongest, prompting Nagumo to point to Sakamoto.

The mission to capture Steel Dragon begins, folding Uzuki into the team beside Sakamoto, Nagumo, and Rion. The department store is exposed as a criminal front staffed by assassins. The chapter closes on the debut of Kindaka, who reveals himself as Steel Dragon and the leader of an organization called The Order.
