Chapter 164

The three react at once, drawing weapons to lock down Takamura's katana, yet the old assassin still frees his blade and counters, forcing them to leap back. He nicks Rion-Uzuki near the hand as they scatter. Nagumo explains to Sakamoto that Takamura is attacking because the JAA has flagged the trio for extermination.

Nagumo turns over in his mind why he chose to save Rion-Uzuki despite that personality causing the deaths of many friends. As he begins asking both Uzuki and Rion for help, Takamura ambushes him from behind, shearing through the blade Nagumo raises in defense and wounding him. Takamura swings again but senses Sakamoto closing in and pivots mid-strike to blast him away.

When the dust settles, Sakamoto's glasses rest balanced on Takamura's edge, and the leaner Sakamoto appears to boot the swordsman through several walls. Takamura rebounds off a bus, hurtles back through the gaps, and slashes, but Sakamoto vaults over the cut, which only fells a massive support pillar. Sakamoto springs off the ruined column for a drop-kick, blocked when Takamura's sheath jams into the ground, then Takamura carves through multiple floors in reply. Watching him walk from the wreckage, Sakamoto acknowledges the man is stronger now than during his own time in the Order. Elsewhere, Kashima surveys the trembling museum as Gaku's fingers twitch on the floor behind him.

Takamura shrugs off the trio's attempt to pin his katana and wounds both Rion-Uzuki and Nagumo. He hurls Sakamoto away, prompting the slim Sakamoto to emerge and kick him through several walls in a punishing exchange. Sakamoto concludes that Takamura has surpassed the strength he showed when Sakamoto served in the Order. In the background, Kashima notices the shaking building while Gaku's fingers begin to stir.

Sharing the swordsman's name as its title, Takamura is the one hundred and sixty-fourth chapter of Sakamoto Days and part of the Assassin Exhibition of the Century Arc. It ran in the combined twenty-second and twenty-third 2024 issue on April 29, 2024, and covers nineteen pages within Volume 19. The cover assembles Nagumo, Sakamoto, Takamura, and Uzuki.
