Han Song-Yi

A youthful girl, Song-Yi keeps her black hair cropped into a bob and carries a beauty mark just below her left eye, while her dark eyes were recolored green in the anime. Her usual raiding outfit pairs a hoodie with black leggings, a gray skirt, and a black cap. By her second appearance she has gathered her hair into a bun, letting a fringe fall on either side.

At first Song-Yi came off as somewhat brash and indifferent to her schooling, dropping out of high school the moment quick hunter money started rolling in. That changed after she nearly died during the Red Gate Incident; she warmed considerably toward Jinwoo, addressing him by name rather than calling him mister, and went back to class convinced she belonged there. Courage grew in her too, shown when she stood ready to face a pack of bloodthirsty orcs even knowing the fight was hopeless.

While Jinho was scouting recruits for the raids he ran with Jinwoo, Song-Yi got swept into the offer and quit school once she heard how much he would pay her just to stand by a gate doing nothing. Jinwoo, unfamiliar with his sister's friends, failed to recognize her and only wondered why someone so young and so low-ranked had taken up hunting at all. Because she had once been Jinah's classmate, Jinwoo eventually tracked her down through her old teacher and set out to talk her back into school by showing her how dangerous the trade really is. For that purpose he leaned on people he knew at the White Tiger Guild, securing spots for the two of them in one of its training exercises.

Things went badly wrong because the gate they walked through revealed itself as a Red Gate, leaving the two marooned across a frozen, snow-buried expanse. Kim Chul rushed off with most of the party to track down and kill the boss, while Song-Yi stayed back in the woods beside Jinwoo, Heejin, and a pair of additional C-Rank Hunters; the split saved her, since Jinwoo cut down every ice bear that came near while Yetis and Ice Elves annihilated Kim Chul's squad. Once Jinwoo slew the boss Baruka, she walked back out of the gate smiling in relief, the human world reclaimed. Shaken as one of only five survivors, she soon went back to school for good, though she stayed in touch with Heejin.
