Appearance

Heavyset and well into middle age, Ma sports a mop of bushy black hair, heavy brows, and untidy facial scruff. He debuted in a dobok, the standard garb of a judoka. For the Jeju Island raid he switched to light gold and gray plate, took up a plain short spear, and hefted an enormous shield marked with the imprint of a ram's skull.

Personality

Warm and sociable, Ma wears a near-constant smile and shows real fondness for his fellow Korean S-Ranks. He has no appetite for rivalry, preferring to sidestep a turf squabble with Park Jongsoo rather than press it. The reset timeline sharpens him into something hungrier and more competitive: he seeks Suho out for a sparring match to gauge the young hunter's strength and works to confirm whether Suho is ready to enter a North Korean dungeon. Still caring at heart, he remains a dedicated practitioner of judo who ties power closely to his own ambition.

History

The bulk of Ma's later story unfolds in Ragnarok. For Suho to win clearance to fight in North Korea, he needed the backing of at least five S-Rank Hunters along with public approval. Ma agreed to lend his on a single condition, that Suho withstand his strength in a handshake. When they clasped hands, Ma triggered his Gigantification skill and tried to crush and throw the younger man with a judo hold. The result stunned everyone: Suho not only held but slammed Ma to the ground, shattering the bones of his hand and arm so badly that an A-Rank Healer had to step in. Impressed, Ma offered Suho the guild master's chair, half joking that he had grown too old to keep brawling with magical beasts.
